Considering the importance of the Congress for both IUCN and France, along with the current health situation related to the Covid-19 pandemic, the strictest health and safety measures have been put into place for Congress through a dedicated health and safety protocol, approved on 13 July by the authorities. These were imperious prerequisites to maintain the Congress in Marseille and are permanently re-assessed by the highest levels of authorities in France every 2 weeks and adjustments are made as necessary.
The following key measures are implemented for the Congress:
- Control of health certificate at the entrance of the Congress for people aged 18+
- Set-up of a temporary test centre for all participants, staff and suppliers (except for general public, groups and schools)
- Downloading and activation of TousAntiCovid application to facilitate case detection and contact tracing
- Wearing of masks at the venue compulsory indoors and outdoors
- Protection screens for all information desks
- Social distancing in all areas, conference rooms, meeting rooms, offices, restaurant areas, hallways
- QR codes for menus and individual portions for all restaurants and catering services
- More than 100 automatic distributors of hand sanitizer gel
- Disinfection of all contact surfaces and objects
- Regular ventilation of spaces and rooms
In addition, the Congress benefits from a specific “Large Event” legal decree, which allows mobilisation of all resources (agents & equipment) required to ensure full security of the Congress venue.
