The Restoration Barometer: what has been done, what can be done? Measuring restoration efforts and results across all ecosystem types

IUCN piloted the Restoration Barometer in forest landscapes to help countries measure the success of their restoration programmes, identifying implementation hurdles and quantifying the benefits to help attract more funding and technical support. Now, the Restoration Barometer is evolving into a new phase, building on the lessons learned so far and allowing reports on all terrestrial ecosystem types including coastal and inland waters. In this session, country representatives and the IUCN staff behind the Barometer will share experiences in applying this tool and engage you in thinking about this expansion. The goal? You will leave with a deeper understanding of the multiple dimensions of measuring restoration progress, and we will gain your insights into how we can make this a truly useful tool for the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration that will catalyse large-scale restoration efforts across ecosystems around the world.
