Micro Reserves - a youth engaging tool for biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation

Why attend
To create a high conservation intervention for endangered species or to important rich biodiversity areas, with simple tools that engages the surrounding community and build consensus on the importance of conservation and its impact on nature and surrounding community, as well provide a venue for the youth to intervene and take leading action.

The aim is to protect the endemic and endangered plant, in its natural habitat through scientific intervition/data collection, field surveys and community involvement. It will be a pilot project that will lead to the development of appropriate strategies and policies for the conservation of endemic and endangered plants through the establishment of micro-reserves. The session will demonstrate the effective module for creating micro / urban reserves for critical biodiversity locations, lead by youth and technically supported by experts. the module illustrates the intervention of the engaged young leaders in the surrounding community of the endangered site to take action with their community and local government and become involved in the protecting and conserving process. As well it will show the sustainability of the program through the solid partnership created with the designated municipality, active ngos of the area, ministry of environment and key stakeholders.
