The Dutch Caribbean is the biodiversity hotspot of the Kingdom of the Netherlands but this fact is poorly understood regionally and globally. During this session participants will be given the opportunity to learn about the marine and terrestrial nature of the Dutch Caribbean, the conservation activities executed by the conservation management organizations and the DCNA conservation network. Various projects will also be discussed including sustainable financing, shark conservation, marine mammal conservation and coral reef conservation.
Participants will also hear from conservation practitioners, biologists, and political decision-makers regarding the on-the-ground actions executed in the Dutch Caribbean to reach the 30 by 2030 goal, blue and green economies and how to build sustainable small island developing states.
