Daniel Marnewick has 23 years of professional experience and leadership in the conservation sector. Daniel led the first-ever large-scale testing of the global Key Biodiversity Areas Standard and the guidance on Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures. Daniel’s understanding of the South African, regional and global conservation landscapes comes with a wealth of authority on a range of integrated fields, including: habitat protection and management, spatial prioritisation, area-based conservation, stakeholder collaboration, grassroots engagement, measuring effectiveness, and community development. He sits on a number of national and international committees regarding area-based conservation. Daniel’s current regional focal areas include area-based conservation targets (Aichi Target 11), IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas, Key Biodiversity Areas, Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures, and Privately Protected Areas.
