I am professional with over 20 years of experience in nature restoration and biodiversity conservation at various levels. After obtaining my MSc in Molecular biology I worked for 8 years as Development director of the Bulgarian partner of BirdLife International. After 2007 I moved to Brussels and worked for almost 10 years as Policy officer in the Nature unit of DG ENV of the European Commission. As such I followed the implementation of the EU Birds and Habitats directives, the establishment and management of the Natura 2000 network, coordinated development of various European strategies, guidance documents for the Member States, EU species action plans, coordinated the declaration of the EU Natura 2000 day and many others. Since 2 years as Project Advisor in the LIFE programme managed by the European Climate, Environment and Infrastructure Executive Agency, I am following the implementation of over 30 various nature restoration projects across Europe.
