Do we care for nature? A global analysis

Why attend
This event is part of a series of discussions around the importance of understanding and measuring human values, attitudes, and behavior towards the environment at the global scale in order to ensure the conservation of biodiversity. This discussion aims to directly inform the development of the framework and the outreach strategy of the CBD
HideDescription
All key threats to biodiversity are the results of human behavior. Yet, we know comparatively little about the human dimensions of conserving biodiversity. Aichi Biodiversity Target 1 asked countries to ensure “people are aware of the values of biodiversity and the steps they can take to conserve and use it sustainably”. Yet, there is no analysis to this day that can measure the extent to which this was achieved. In this session we will present a global analysis for the 2010/2020 period, looking at global awareness and interest for biodiversity in its different forms, as well as conservation actions. Beyond global patterns we will highlight the countries that have made the most progress and the areas where progress still remains to be made.
