Dr Sugoto ROY
Coordinator, Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation Programme, IUCN
I studied for a BSc and MSc in ecology and wildlife management from Imperial College in 1994, and my PhD, looking at the impacts and management of the invasive small Indian mongoose, from Bristol University in 2001. Since 1995, I have worked in government departments, NGOs, and universities, mainly working in wildlife management and research, specialising in the ecology and management of carnivores, invasive species and human wildlife conflicts. I have worked on projects in the UK, The UK overseas territories, Japan and the Indian Ocean. In 2014, I joined IUCN to manage a tiger conservation programme aimed at conserving significant tiger populations. The portfolio currently has 12 projects across 6 countries and operates at the interface between species conservation, habitat restoration and working with local communities.
