Ms Claire RELTON

Conservation Effectiveness Officer, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust

Based in the Conservation Effectiveness Department at Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, I facilitate and support conservation teams to develop, implement, monitor, and adapt effective, evidence-based strategic plans. I work closely with the Conservation Measures Partnership, and am a co-lead of the Conservation Coaches Network of Africa and Madagascar, which aims to support and advance conservation practice in Africa using tools that are consistent with the Conservation Standards. This work has opened my eyes to the complex, multifaceted, and urgent environmental issues we face, but also to the opportunities for positive and lasting impact we could have through collaborative and effective project management and effectiveness monitoring. Much of my previous experience has been dedicated to conservation science, focusing on threatened African species and habitats. I have an MSc in Ecology from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
