The Caribbean island of Bonaire hosts the largest mangrove forest within the Dutch Kingdom. This forest is facing a number of threats, contributing to its degradation and if left unchecked, could eventually lead to an irreversible loss. A recently awarded BEST2.0+ project with the Mangrove Maniacs, and the full support of the island’s managing park authority STINAPA, aims to restore, mitigate the threats and enhance the ecosystem services of this area. During the process residents and visitors alike will get the opportunity to participate and learn about this fascinating environment.
