I am a young and energetic person, and a founder member of a leading national non-governmental organization, namely Green Governance Nepal, working on and as a conservation partner in Nepal. I have more than 25 years of working experience with national and international partners, basically in the field of biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services, and climate change. I have been actively working with IUCN Nepal’s National Committee as a General Secretary. Furthermore, I also have worked as a coordinator, connecting IUCN national level Commission Members and institutional Members. While working with the IUCN Nepal’s National Committee, I got opportunities to attain IUCN World Conservation Congress, Regional Conservation Forum and Asia Regional Members Committee meetings and learn more about IUCN, its Commissions, and organograms. In addition, the meetings were excellent platforms for me to share my own experience in nature conservation and learn from others. Furthermore, as a forestry practitioner, I am Involved in various national-level policy documents development like the assessment of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) (2014-2020), developing a sixth national report for NBSAP, species conservation action for wildlife and plant species. Likewise, I have working experiences in the protected area management system, Ramsar site-specific management plan, climate change especially REDD+, biodiversity conservation, and human-wildlife conflict mitigation.
I have been associated with IUCN for 15 years for the protected area management and species conservation. I have been working as the General Secretary of IUCN Institutional Members Committee for the last three years, and one of my most important responsibilities is to maintain regular communication and interaction with IUCN Commission Members in Nepal. I have been collaborating with IUCN, Bear Specialist Group and IUCN Human-Wildlife Conflict Task Force for the research of sloth bear and human-tiger conflict mitigation in the lowlands of Nepal. In addition to that, I have been collaborating with the University of Tennessee for climate change adaptation in and around Sagarmatha National Park in the Everest region of Nepal. I have attended a number of IUCN meetings, such as IUCN World Conservation Congress (Hawai’i, USA), Regional Conservation Fora (Thailand and Pakistan) and the Asia Regional Members Committee meeting (China and Pakistan) and Social Marketing Conference in the USA. Likewise, I have attended several IUCN national level meetings.
