Voices of Indigenous Youth on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework

Why attend
Central to this session is the voice of indigenous youth. Learn about their roles, contributions and perspectives on equitable participation, intergenerational responsibility and Indigenous Peoples' rights in the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.
HideDescription
For millennia, indigenous peoples have been living in harmony in nature. With their close connection to their lands, relying on their traditional knowledge and indigenous management systems, indigenous peoples have been managing their lands, territories and resources sustainably. In all corners of the world, the plight of biodiversity is closely intertwined with that of indigenous peoples’ way of life. Faced by many adversities, indigenous peoples continue to protect and nurture nature for future generations. Indigenous youth plays a crucial role in the work of biodiversity conservation. Indigenous youth hold the power to amplify the transformation change that we need, particularly in biodiversity conservation, yet their voices are often side-lined. This 45 minute interactive session is envisaged to bring together indigenous youth representatives to exchange ideas on how to strengthen their engagement in the development of the Post- 2020 framework of the CBD.
