Mr Guy DEBONNET

Chief of Natural Heritage , UNESCO World Heritage Centre

Guy Debonnet (° 1965, Belgium) has a MSc in Bioscience  Engineering. From 1989 to 2001, he worked on nature conservation and rural development projects in various African countries. He was also a senior advisor on environment to the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He joined UNESCO World Heritage Centre in 2002 as a specialist for natural heritage and is currently the Chief of the Natural Heritage Unit. In this position, he is coordinating the work on natural heritage under the 1972 World Heritage Convention and works closely with IUCN as its advisory body for natural heritage. He is the focal point for the engagement with the private sector on the commitments made to safeguard World Heritage Sites.
