Mr Hubert GÉRAUX
Conservation & Advocacy expert - New Caledonia Office, WWF-France
I graduated with a Master's degree in geography and ecology from the University of Lyon
I began my involvement for WWF in 1992 in French Guiana as an ecovolunteer for marine turtles protection and birds inventory for a RAMSAR site project. Once my studies were completed, I moved there in 1995 to carry out my civic service in charge of the inventory of Guyanese biodiversity then continued in an environmental study office while being strongly involved in a local NGO for birds conservat°. In 1999, I opened the 1st overseas office of WWF-Fr there. I left for New Caledonia in 2001 to set up a 2nd overseas WWF-Fr office and in 2010 became the manager.
The majority of my commitment contributes to promoting the co-management of the environment and the reduction of our ecological footprint, in particular that of fires and mining activity.
Since April 2021, I have continued my collaborat° with WWF in New Caledonia as a conservat° and advocacy expert.
