Dr Steven BACHMAN
Research Leader, Species Conservation, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
I have a background in geography and became interested in plants after a work placement at Kew Gardens studying the distribution and conservation status of the palm family in New Guinea. I have worked at Kew for over 15 years on various plant conservation related projects including prioritsation of seed collecting, Red Listing assessment and analytical tool development e.g. GeoCAT, Rapid Least Concern, and co-ordination of the Sampled Red List Index project. I am interested in the application of new tools and techniques to support the challenge of assessing and monitoring plant diversity across the globe.
