Mrs Zulma DE MENDOZA

Chief of Party, UICN ORMACC Costa Rica

25 years of experience leading and implementing projects oriented to biodiversity conservation, development of alternatives livelihoods for local communities, biological corridors, biosphere reservations, and protected areas in El Salvador and the Central American region, she is currently the Chief of Party for USAID-IUCN Regional Coastal Biodiversity Project.   Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID Regional Program Management of Aquatic Resources and Economic Alternatives, where she managed all USAID relations and procedures in addition to overseeing project operations and serving as the project’s gender focal point. She is known in the region for her well-honed communication and negotiation skills that have led to changes in legislation and policies. She is the founding member of two Salvadoran national level NGOs that pursue the conservation of biodiversity, ecosystems and endangered wild fauna (FUNZEL), where she actually serves as a volunteer.
